Cycling Buddy SG — the free cycling map for Singapore
Version 1.0 · free · works offline · no app store
Everything for a Singapore ride on one map: the 7 Park Connector loops, LTA's cycling paths, the Rail Corridor, every park & nature reserve, and island-wide bike parking. Plan routes offline, check the rain & air quality, find your nearest connector, and record your ride.
What you can do
Plan a route offline⦚ — tap a start & destination for turn-by-turn that prefers park connectors and avoids expressways. You get a recommended route plus Balanced and Fastest options, and bridges & underpasses appear as markers along the way.
Check weather & air quality⛅ — a live 2-hour rain forecast, the current temperature, UV index and PM2.5 for where you are, and an island rain-zone map (the cloud button, top-right).
Find your nearest connector & rack📍 — one tap shows your position, the closest park connector, and the nearest bike parking.
Follow your heading➤ — the compass turns the map to face the way you're riding; twist two fingers to rotate any time.
Record a ride● — distance, time and speed, exported as GPX.
Install it⬇ — Add to Home Screen and it runs full-screen and offline like a native app.
On the map
Tap anything — a path, park or rack — to identify it. Toggle any layer (loops, Rail Corridor, cycling paths, parks, bike parking, diversions) in the Layers panel.
P Bike parking appears as you zoom in — solid P is sheltered, hollow is open-air; tap for the number of spaces.
⚠️ Diversions — a red glow with a caution marker flags a stretch affected by a closure; tap it for the official diversion map and follow on-site signage.
Common questions
Is Cycling Buddy SG free?
Yes — completely free, with no ads, no sign-up and no tracking cookies. It's built and maintained by Lin Jiaen using open data from NParks, LTA and NEA via data.gov.sg.
Does it work offline?
Yes. It's a Progressive Web App: once loaded it caches the map, the routing graph and the network layers, so route planning and the park-connector map keep working without a connection. Only the live rain radar needs a connection to refresh.
What is the Park Connector Network (PCN)?
Singapore's islandwide system of cycling and walking paths — about 334.8 km across 7 colour-coded loops — linking parks, nature reserves and neighbourhoods. This app maps all 7 loops and plans routes that prefer them over roads.
How do I install it on my phone?
Open the site in your phone's browser and choose Add to Home Screen — the Share menu in Safari on iPhone, or the browser menu in Chrome on Android. It then runs full-screen and offline like a native app.
Do I need a helmet?
Helmets are required by law when cycling on Singapore roads. The app prefers park connectors and avoids expressways, and shows a helmet reminder whenever a route has to use roads.
Offline turn-by-turn prefers park connectors and avoids expressways. Your location stays on your device. Visits are counted anonymously — no cookies, no accounts, no personal data. Basemap tiles cache as you view them, so revisited areas work offline.
